Message from the CERN Staff Association

Dear GAC-EPA members,

Following a request from the CERN Staff Association, you are invited to join the CERN personnel on Friday 2 June from 1.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m.  in the lobby of the main building; this concerns the lack of consultation and agreement, particularly on matters relating to human resources and personnel policy.

For more information, please see the following information.

Sincerely,

Enrico Chiaveri for the GAC-EPA Committee

—————————————————————

Enough is enough!

Dear Colleagues,

The Staff Council has unanimously decided to give notice of a concerted work stoppage on Friday 2 June from 1.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. with an assembly of the personnel in the hall of the main building for the following reasons:

  • The Staff Council deplores the lack of any real progress on the Association’s package of measures*, whereas the crisis levy has been implemented since January 2023.
  • The Staff Council is outraged by the absence of concertation or even simple discussion from the stage at which the Management’s strategic choices are drawn up, particularly when these have consequences for human resources and members of the personnel policy.
  • The Staff Council expresses its concern that no agreement has been reached between the Member States regarding the payment of additional exceptional contributions, despite the fact that this is inseparable from the crisis levy which has already been in place since January 2023.

In accordance with the applicable rules, the period of notice shall be utilized to attempt to settle the dispute by conciliation at the level of the SCC which will take place today at 5.00 p.m. If this has a successful outcome, the concerted work stoppage will be withdrawn. Only the gathering of  the personnel will be maintained.

Come and join us in the hall of the main building to learn more about the crisis.

* Namely: partial internal taxation of pensions, study of various proposals from members of the personnel to identify savings, postponement of the construction of new tertiary buildings and measures to encourage voluntary retirement departure.
